Current Work - Photomonoprints
In the past year I have been working with the process of creating photomonoprints. This process combines my interests in printmaking, photography, and painting. While each image is created using a matrix, no two final products will look the same.
The process begins with a photograph that is printed through an inkjet printer onto transparency paper. The ink won't stick to the transparency, so it beads up and can then be transferred to another sheet of paper. Prior to transfer I sometimes play with the beads of ink, merge colors, or separate others. At this point I take a sheet of my chosen final paper (it varies depending on my intent) and lay it over the transparency paper. Then a brayer is used to adhere the ink onto the final paper. After the ink is adhered I will examine the final print and begin alterations with watercolor or ink if the piece has further to go.
