Hand Drawings - with a Wow Factor
This was the first assignment for the drawing 2 students. They were tested to see how much they recall about life drawing and observations with the task of creating a unique image with their own hands as the subject. We played around with composition using cut outs of hands as a class and discussed the various types of successful compositions along with the types of symmetry. When students were to begin their final piece they had to have at least five different thumbnail sketches completed. The chosen thumbnail composition had to have a successful composition and a "wow factor." The "wow factor" was up to the student concerning what they were to include, be it props, a unique spin on the subject, color, or a setting. The point was it needed to look different from the other students work and be a unique image.
